You buy a spirit type on a normal purchase order. The spirit type must be marked Available on purchase orders, with a purchase option for that vendor so the line pre-fills.
Open: left nav → Purchase Orders → New (or open an existing draft PO).
Before you start
- Vendor exists.
- Spirit type exists, available on POs, with a purchase option for this vendor (Arrives as Tote / Bucket / Drum / Barrel / Bulk, volume, price, default proof).
How to add bulk spirits to a PO
- Create or open a purchase order and choose the vendor.
- On a new line, pick the spirit type from the item dropdown. Distilling accounts also see + Add New Spirit Type if the type is missing.
- The purchase option matching this vendor pre-fills amount, unit, quantity unit (tote, etc.), and price.
- Confirm quantity (how many totes / gallons you are ordering) and price.
- An implied ≈ $X/PG at Y proof appears under the line total when the type has a default proof. That is a quote check, not the receipt gauge.
- If you are buying aged spirit, fill Age (yrs, optional) on the line. That age carries through to receive.
- Save / mark the PO as ordered the same way you do for grain.
What this does not do
A PO line is not inventory yet. Nothing lands in Spirit Lots until you Receive in Bond. Attach TIB paperwork on the PO's existing attachments if you have it before the truck arrives — receive will still ask for shipment facts (TIB #, BOL, Original DSP).
Pro Tip: Counted modes (tote, drum, barrel) should have Volume per container on the purchase option. Receive then pre-fills each container's documented gauge instead of a blank row.
