A batching run draws from source lots (and optional blending ingredients) into one output lot. Declare the output, then draw the sources. The batch's proof gallons are the drawn total — enter the actual output volume and the proof derives from the two. Remaining balances stay in the source vessels.
Banner on the form: Storage output requires every source in one TTB bulk reporting column; otherwise the run lands in Processing, where only the drawn quantities move in bond — source lots keep their account and vessel.
Start from the Spirits dashboard or Spirit Lots toolbar: Batching Run.
How to record a batching run
- Batch date.
- Start from recipe (optional) — pick a batching recipe to pre-fill output type and staged lines. Or leave "No recipe — build by hand."
- Spirit type of the output. + Add New Spirit Type is available.
- Lot name — optional; default is spirit type + date.
- Destination vessel (empty) — required. Yeast brinks are not offered.
- TTB account — Processing (default) or Storage (same reporting column). Same-column batches may stay in Storage. Mixed columns cannot.
- Actual output wine gallons (or liters) — required. This is the measured tank volume after the batch. You do not enter a final proof. Estimated proof updates live in the summary as you add draws.
Source lots
- Click Add Source Lot.
- Pick the spirit type, then the lot (oldest-first). The picker shows volume, proof gallons, vessel, and age.
- Enter the draw amount and unit: wine gallons, proof gallons, or weight (or liters / LAA on a metric account).
- Add more sources as needed. Remaining balance stays in each source vessel.
Blending ingredients
Optional. Add Ingredient offers Water, Fermentable, Hop, Miscellaneous, Yeast, and Wine when bonded wine exists.
- Water is a scaling line at zero cost.
- Materials pull from inventory lots (FIFO assign, or pick).
- Some ingredients can contribute proof gallons (flavors, wine). Contributed PG is optional/auto-derived where the item is tagged. The summary shows CONTRIBUTED PG and TOTAL PG (drawn + contributed). Flavor alcohol above 2.5% of the batch notes the §5010 cap — it is a hint, not a hard stop.
Unassigned ingredient lines are allowed to record; the output lot is quarantined until you assign them on the lot page.
Summary and save
The rail shows available in sources, drawing into this batch, remaining, contributed PG, total PG, actual output volume, and estimated proof. Click Record Batching Run.
View and undo
The output lot opens with a read-only Batching Run page: header gauge, Source Lots (as-entered and converted), Blending Ingredients, notes. Corrections happen by deleting and re-recording — this view never edits.
On the output lot's activity, View opens the run. The green X deletes it while nothing else has used the output: "The drawn spirits and their cost return to every source lot, consumed ingredients go back to inventory, and this output lot is reversed — all as visible offsetting records." If later activity exists, the X is grey and names the blocker.
Pro Tip: Do not type a "target proof" and hope the volume matches. Measure the tank, enter that volume, and let proof fall out. If the proof is wrong, that is a proof adjustment or a different batch — not a third number on this form.
