Case marks are the six required marks on a case (27 CFR 19.489): serial, kind of spirits, DSP where bottled, date filled, proof, quantity. Proof on the mark is label proof. Serials are assigned at bottling. You cannot number a run that predates case serials.
On a packaging run show, Print Case Marks appears only if the run has case serials. Runs recorded before that feature never get the button.
How to print
- Open the packaging run.
- Click Print Case Marks (or Print N Case Mark(s)).
- Choose the case serial range, Label stock, and Start at if you are using a part-used sheet.
- Stocks: 4" x 6" case label — 2 per sheet; Avery 5164 — 3⅓" x 4", 6 per sheet; Plain paper — one case label per page.
- Print. Reprints are free. Series stay distinct per 19.490(b).
If kind of spirits was never set on the type/product, the mark can print with an Incomplete band — set Kind of spirits (Part 5 class and type) before you rely on the mark.
Packaging also requires Actual proof (tank). If label vs tank is beyond 0.6 proof, the form warns under 27 CFR 5.65 — proof the tank to label before bottling.
Pro Tip: Tax-determined warehouses withdraw from bond on the run (FET on the cases). Bonded warehouses keep cases in bond. That is a warehouse checkbox, not Spirits Settings.
