A packaging run draws from one spirit lot and lands case goods. Proof gallons are counted at label proof, not tank proof. You can only package a product whose spirit type matches the lot. Cross-type packaging is blocked.
Start from the lot: Start a Packaging Run / Add Packaging Run, or from Record Packaging with a source lot picker.
How to record packaging
- Confirm Source lot if you did not open it from the lot.
- Product — only products of this lot's spirit type. Label proof shows in the option (e.g. House Vodka @ 80.0 proof).
- Warehouse — where the cases go. A tax-determined warehouse withdraws from bond and federal excise tax falls due on the run. A bonded warehouse keeps the cases in bond (no FET). Wave 1 bottlers who are not ready for FET should package into a bonded warehouse.
- Add lines (fills): package type / fill, cases and units, disposition (pre-filled from the fill, overridable).
- Wine gallons and proof gallons on the line are at label proof. The form shows a live draw against the tank.
- Bill of Materials for each fill consumes packaging materials per each, same as beer. Low stock warns on the card.
- Confirm the remainder (optional) — after the run, gauge what is left in the tank (volume, weight, or quantity mode). A reading below the computed remainder books a packaging loss onto the cases. A reading above books a gain. Skip it if you did not gauge.
- Click Record Packaging.
After the run
You land on Packaging Run details: each line's product, packaged amount, disposition, WG and PG at label proof, unit cost, and total. If you packaged into a tax-determined warehouse, a yellow block shows proof gallons withdrawn, rate, and FET added to case-good cost. If the warehouse is still bonded: "still in bond, no federal excise tax determined."
Print Case Marks appears only when the run has case serials (later article). Runs recorded before case marks existed cannot be numbered retroactively.
Cost per proof gallon
On the finished goods lot, open Cost Breakdown. Spirits rows restate each cost in the physical proof gallons it represents, with an all-in Cost per Proof Gallon (or Cost per LAA) as the tie-out line. Quantities stay physical — Ollie does not invent a denominator. Beer's cost table is unchanged.
Undo
Delete the packaging run from the lot while nothing downstream has used the cases. The draw returns to the bulk lot, materials return, remainder loss/gain reverses, and FET reverses if it was determined. Later activity greys out the X and names the blocker.
Pro Tip: If the tank is 81 proof and the label is 80, you still owe 80-proof gallons on the cases. The extra alcohol stays in the tank until you gauge the remainder or run again.
