Filled barrels, totes, buckets, and drums on a spirit-type PO line receive in bond as counted groups: count × documented gauge. Each container becomes a numbered vessel. Bulk on the same truck still must land in an existing tank. Read the bulk Receive in Bond article first — this is the counted path on that same page.
Path: Purchase Orders → receivable PO with spirits → Receive → Receive in Bond — PO #{n}.
Shipment (once for the truck)
Same block as bulk receive: TTB account, TIB #, BOL #, Original DSP, Source (Domestic only — Imported / PR / VI are not yet supported), Ownership.
Banner: Received exactly as documented. Differences you measure are separate gain/loss adjustments.
Counted groups
Section header looks like: {Spirit} — {N} barrels · groups must total {N}.
- For barrels, each group needs Barrel type (Add New Barrel Type if missing), Barrels in this group, Fill date (required — this is the oak-age anchor), documented proof/ABV and wine gallons (or net weight) per barrel.
- Totes / buckets / drums do not take barrel type or fill date. They can take Age (optional) and optional container size.
- Add another group with + Add barrel group (different type or fill year) (or the tote/bucket/drum equivalent).
- Groups must total the ordered count. A short truck means edit the PO first — do not under-receive on this screen.
Submit Receive in Bond. Toast for counted barrels: "Barrels received in bond — set locations and trim individual barrels below."
After receive — Received Containers
Banner: The spirits are in bond. Buttons: Print Tags, Edit Locations (barrels), Edit Container Details.
Trim containers to the manifest if a barrel is wet-short vs the group gauge. Seller's # stays editable. Fill date locks once the gauge has later activity.
Barrel Locations: Where do these barrels sit? Set all / Apply to all / Save Locations. If no scheme: "No location scheme is configured yet — define your spots in Spirits Settings first."
Pro Tip: Empty wood on a PO never uses this page. Empty barrels use ordinary Receive (previous article).
