A batching recipe names the spirit types and blending ingredients for a standard batch. It never names physical lots — you pick lots on the run. Record a Batching Run can start from a recipe or be built by hand.
Recipes → tab Batching. Button: New. Header: New Batching Recipe.
Fields
- Recipe name, Output spirit type (Add New Spirit Type), Standard batch size (wine gallons), optional formula reference and approved-on.
- Add Source — Spirit type, Amount, Unit (Wine Gallons / Proof Gallons / Pounds). Empty: "a recipe names the spirit types it draws from, never physical lots."
- Add Ingredient: Water, Fermentable, Hop, Miscellaneous, Yeast, Wine. Water "scales with the batch, consumes no stock." There is no separate Water scaling toggle.
- Estimated Proof when sources are planned in proof gallons. Flavor above 2.5% notes the §5010 cap — a hint, not a hard stop.
- Create Recipe / Save Recipe.
A recipe with batching runs cannot be deleted — disable it instead.
Pro Tip: Use the recipe to pre-fill the run, then deliberately pick lots (oldest-first). Unassigned ingredient lines quarantine the output until you Assign on the lot.
