Ollie Ops Distilling is for a DSP that tracks spirits in proof gallons, keeps federal bond accounts straight, and transcribes monthly TTB reports. It is the same Ollie Ops product breweries use. A Spirits brand gets a different left nav and a different production toolbar. Login, billing, vendors, raw materials, and packaging materials stay shared.
What Distilling is for
Use Distilling when the liquid you care about is spirits — purchased GNS, distilled output, batched gin, barreled whiskey, or bottled cases. Do not use the brewery Brew Day flow for that liquid.
The three building blocks:
- Spirit Type — what the liquid is for TTB. One catalog item. Lots, products, recipes, and reports all resolve to it.
- Spirit Lot — a quantity of that type in a vessel (or a barrel), costed in proof gallons, sitting in Production, Storage, or Processing.
- Product — the bottled label: spirit type, label proof, origin, kind of spirits, and fills.
How you get around
Open account setup from the top-right avatar (not a gear). Distilling-relevant items:
- Producer settings
- Materials, Packaging materials, Package types
- Products (same menu label as beer; when Spirits is the active industry, this is the spirits catalog)
- Spirit Types (only after the producer has at least one Spirits brand)
- Vendors
- DSPs (only after distilling is enabled)
If the producer has both Brewing and Spirits brands, a Beer | Spirits switch appears under the header. A Spirits-only account never sees it. The left nav follows whichever industry is selected.
Spirits left nav: Dashboard, Tasks, Calendar, then Inventory Management — Recipes, Fermentation, Spirit Lots, Spirit Barrels (only if barrels is on), Raw Materials, Packaging Materials, Finished Goods, Transfers, Adjustments, Sales, Purchase Orders, Reports.
Where you work day to day
- Dashboard — labeled Spirits. Production toolbar can start a Fermentation Run, Still Run, Barrel Fill, Barrel Dump, or Batching Run when those features are on. Wave 1 customers who only buy and bottle will mainly use Batching Run.
- Spirit Lots — every in-process lot, tabbed by TTB account.
- Recipes — Fermentation, Distillation, and Batching tabs.
- Purchase Orders — buy a spirit type in bond, then Receive in Bond.
- Reports — TTB Spirits (Production, Storage, Processing), Daily Log, and the excise return worksheet.
What Distilling is not
- It is not the beer barrel program (Creating & Managing Barrels in the brewery KB). Rickhouse barrels are a separate Distilling section, and the left-nav label is Spirit Barrels.
- It is not beer TTB by packaging or by sales. Distilling uses 5110.40 / 5110.11 / 5110.28 as worksheets, not filed forms.
- Pay.gov e-filing is out of Ollie. You transcribe from the worksheet.
Suggested setup order
- Enable Distilling on a brand (Industry Type → Spirits)
- Spirits Settings (DSP details, federal excise rates if you file, TTB write-in lines, units)
- Spirit Types
- DSP directory (plants you receive from — not your own plant)
- Package types (bottles/cans), then Products and fills
- Buy and receive bulk spirits, or cook and distill, then batch and package
Pro Tip: If you only bottle purchased GNS, you can skip mash and still recipes. You still need Spirit Types, a product at label proof, and Receive in Bond.
